TIMELY WISDOM FOR TODAY

“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them” (Deuteronomy 4:9).

The Bible is full of examples of God’s people forgetting Him and His love for them—and things haven’t changed much. Though the Western world may have cultural institutions that harken to its Christian heritage, these powerful symbols of God’s redeeming work have been watered down to secular traditions and tepid studying of God’s Word that has left the devil a foothold.

Smoke rising across Western City

The West has become the new mission field.

Right now, the West is also receiving large numbers of migrating Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Atheists, many of them representing the world’s unreached people groups.

The West has become the new mission field as the Gospel has become muddled and so few know the Truth of the Good News—that saving grace that brings freedom and new life by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us pray:
  • That the Holy Spirit would soften hearts to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • That God’s people in the West would stand firm in their faith and hold fast to Truth, speaking it readily with grace and love
  • That God would work through Christians in the West so that their lives bear much fruit by the Spirit, shining like stars in a dark and empty culture

Prayer: Father, help me to study and keep Your Word in my heart so that many who do not know You will be drawn to You in me as I obey. Thank You for bringing unreached peoples here to my doorstep so that I can more easily bring the Gospel to them! Prepare me and all missionaries You have called to the West for the work of Your Great Commission. Lord, may our hearts be burdened for the lost. Help us to be bold, humble, and loving ambassadors for You as we go out into our communities. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
