During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast with the goal of receiving forgiveness and becoming more acceptable in the sight of Allah (Allah is simply the Arabic word for "God"). Because Muslims believe that the Quran was given as a revelation during this month, many are also more spiritually open at this time, hoping to receive divine revelation, dreams, or visions.
