Ask Dr. Youssef: What is
The Bible's message, if faithfully preached, is the only real solution to the world's problems.

QUESTION:

“What is ‘progressive Christianity’?”

ANSWER:

Progressive Christianity rejects key tenets of traditional Biblical Christianity. It rebuffs the authority of the Bible, the atoning death of Jesus on the cross, and salvation “by grace through faith in Jesus alone.” Instead, the ideology promotes a distorted interpretation of the Bible, claiming “all religions lead to the same God” and seeking to build a utopian “kingdom of heaven” on earth through a liberal-progressive social and political agenda.

This movement often embraces universalism, asserting that no one goes to hell and that God will ultimately save everyone. However, such views undermine the core Christian belief that Jesus is the only way to the Father (see John 14:6). Progressive Christians often downplay or dismiss doctrinal certainty, spreading the lie that Truth is unattainable. They argue for inclusivity while leading to modern-day idolatry. But Jesus affirmed again and again what the Truth is and why it’s important. Our understanding of Truth shapes our thinking, beliefs, actions, and relationships.

While progressive Christians may seek social reform, the Gospel of Jesus Christ remains the true source of transformation for individuals and societies. The Bible’s message, if faithfully preached, is the only real solution to the world’s problems.
