QUESTION:
“How can we prove the resurrection happened?”
ANSWER:
Christianity is not blind faith. In fact, it is the only belief system based on objective evidence. This is why the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest news of all—not just a great story. Just consider these three facts (among many) regarding the resurrection:
- It was recorded by four independent authors, each accurately reporting many small details in harmony (see Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20).
- There were many eyewitnesses, including a group of 500 (see 1 Corinthians 15:3-9; Luke 24:13-35).
- Accounts of the resurrection include inconvenient Truths that one would not have included in a fabricated story. For example, the disciples behaved in ways that make them look foolish (see Luke 22:24-34; 24:6-11, 25; John 20:9; Matthew 26:31-46, 69-75).
Jesus is not just a means to salvation—He is our salvation. He is real, He came from heaven to save us, and He will return to make all things new. Imagine what it will be like to see our Savior face to face, to spend eternity worshiping Him and enjoying His presence. Until then, let us praise God for the evidence of the resurrection and for the promise of eternal life through Christ, His Son.
