Read Romans 8:5-17.
We can be active in our churches and exhibit many commendable traits and yet still operate from our flesh if we are not allowing ourselves to be led by the Spirit. Being led by the Holy Spirit means He is at work in your life in three distinct ways:
Though you may not see the fruit of your surrender immediately, trust that the Spirit is at work.
There are times when I have fervently prayed and sought the Holy Spirit's guidance but still could not discern His leading. Only later did I realize He was guiding me all along.
So, though you may not see the fruit of your surrender immediately, trust that the Spirit is at work. If you are actively yielding to Him, you will bear fruit. But He will not beat down the door of your life; you must welcome Him in. So, pray with me now, "Holy Spirit, let Your will dominate my will."
Prayer: God, I thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, open my eyes to the beauty of Scripture and so work in my heart that I delight to submit to its Truth. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
"For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God" (Romans 8:13-14).
