QUESTION:

"We often call others blessed when they enjoy material wealth. But what does it really mean to be blessed in God's eyes?"

As a child of God, you will not be lost even if you try, even if others try, even if the world tries and Satan tries.

ANSWER:

It is true that we can and do enjoy material blessings here on earth. We can also be blessed with enriching relationships, meaningful work, and more. But often these blessings are only temporary, and they aren't assured. When God calls His people blessed, He has greater and deeper blessings in mind—eternal ones.

In fact, the greatest blessing in the Christian faith is that God does not let go of His children. He never lets go of you. When He adopts you and gives you His name, you are cradled in the very palm of His hand. Nothing can take you out of His loving, fatherly hands. As a child of God, you will not be lost even if you try, even if others try, even if the world tries and Satan tries. I'm so grateful to the Lord for this Truth. I'm so grateful He pulled me out of my own proverbial Egypt and set me back beside the altar at Bethel, like He did to Abraham.

But believe me, when God dragged me out of Egypt, the heels of my shoes left deep ruts in the sand because I did not want to leave my sin and selfish ambition and stubborn ways. God, by His grace, dragged me out of my Egypt and back to Himself, and that is the greatest gift He could give me.
