NEW FROM DR. MICHAEL YOUSSEF

QUESTION:

"Why would God ever forgive me?"

"There is no depth of sin that God's forgiveness cannot cover."

ANSWER:

The inexhaustible grace of God is the most exhilarating aspect of the Christian life. When Jesus first told the parable of the Prodigal Son, nobody had ever heard such a thing before. The idea that human beings could simply return home to God and be forgiven—why, this was unthinkable! God, our loving Father, receives lost and undeserving sinners. He loves us even though we have insulted Him. He forgives us even though we have wasted His blessings. Why? Because that is who He is.

God's forgiveness is an expression of His nature. He offers love that is infinitely beyond what we deserve—and this grace is only made possible by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If Jesus had not obediently chosen to accept death in that moment of decision in the Garden of Gethsemane, there would be no grace for you and me. We would be dead in our sins.

There is no depth of sin that God's forgiveness cannot cover. But His grace will not go on forever. So, while His grace is still offered to us, freely and abundantly, let us accept it with gratitude. Let's revel in it and enjoy it and thank God for it—but let us never take it for granted.
