Mobilizing for the Next Great Awakening in North America

In March 2020, it started with a prayer movement founded on one desire: to see the next Great Spiritual Awakening in America. Within its first year, 100,000 people had joined the movement. And now, five years later—and 500,000 prayer warriors strong—Dr. Michael Youssef is taking Awake America on the road.

As a naturalized American citizen who grew up under a socialist dictatorship in Egypt, Dr. Michael Youssef has always had a deep appreciation for the rich history of spiritual revival in America and the Biblical ideals upon which the nation was founded. In March 2020, burdened by the deep need for spiritual renewal in our nation once again, Dr. Youssef launched the Awake America prayer movement, which quickly went viral on social media.

Now building on the strong foundation of 500,000 dedicated prayer warriors, Awake America is entering its next phase of ministry: city-wide gatherings across the nation.

“Several years ago, God laid it on my heart that I needed to go on the road—and He opened so many doors,” Dr. Youssef says. “There are places where people are saying, ‘We want you to bring this to our city.’ We want to do everything we can, including going on the road in America, to present a Biblical worldview and call people to Christ.”

Beginning with Awake Boston in October 2025, Leading The Way will partner with local churches across the nation to host city-wide gatherings with the primary goal of seeing the church revitalized. This is a critical element of Dr. Youssef’s 5-year Open Door Campaign to reach North America for Christ.

“I don’t know how long the door [of opportunity] is going to remain open in America before we hear that the Bible is hate speech. In some countries, this is already the case,” Dr. Youssef says. “We want to walk through this door as long as God keeps it open. Because if we go to sleep, we’ll have missed a great opportunity.”
