In the final of three Christ Our Hope Gospel events across the Middle East this fall, Dr. Michael A. Youssef will return to the country of his birth—this time to the hillside city of Mokattam on the edge of Cairo—to declare the Truth of Jesus Christ to searching souls.

Christ Our Hope: Mokattam, Egypt

Across the Middle East and North Africa, the spiritual hunger is real.

In 2023, thousands flooded into Cairo to hear Dr. Michael Youssef proclaim Jesus Christ—and nearly 8,000 people responded to the invitation to surrender their lives to Him.

Now, Dr. Youssef is returning, and he’s not stopping at one city. This fall, Dr. Youssef is making his way across the Middle East with one message: there is hope—one way to eternal life—and His name is Jesus.

It began with Leading The Way’s Christ Our Hope Gospel event in Amman, Jordan, in September, where 500 of the 1,600 people in attendance came forward to surrender their lives to Christ. From there, he travels to Luxor, Egypt, for the second Christ Our Hope outreach. And on November 15th, the journey culminates in Mokattam, a hillside district overlooking Cairo, where approximately 1,000 people are expected to gather to hear the Good News proclaimed.

Born in Egypt, Dr. Youssef knows its people… its culture, and the spiritual burdens they carry. This fall, he returns not as an outsider, but as someone who loves the people and longs to see them encounter the Truth of Christ.

Looking Back: A Harvest of Souls in Egypt

The Hope Egypt Needs

On the edge of Cairo, carved into the cliffs of Mokattam, stands one of the most extraordinary churches in the world. Built into the rock of a hillside, the Cave Church stands as a monument to something the world keeps trying to snuff out: Christian faith in the heart of the Middle East.

Christ Our Hope won't be held at the Cave Church, but its shadow falls over everything. Because the story of Christianity in Egypt is a story of endurance—of a people who have held the Gospel through centuries of pressure, persecution, and uncertainty.

That pressure hasn't let up. Egyptians today face grinding economic hardship, political instability, and spiritual confusion. People are looking for something solid. Something true. Something that holds when everything else collapses. On November 15th, Dr. Youssef will proclaim the answer to that longing in Mokattam: the Good News that sinners can be reconciled to their Creator through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Hunger Across Egypt

The Lord is faithfully opening hearts to the Gospel across the Middle East. These testimonies from our previous Gospel event in Egypt in 2023 reveal the deep hunger for Truth there—and remind us that no barrier is too great for the Gospel, and no heart is beyond Christ’s reach.

Where can true hope be found? On November 6th, Dr. Michael A. Youssef will return to Egypt, the country of his birth, to proclaim the answer to that question to approximately 1,500 people at Leading The Way’s Christ Our Hope Gospel event in Luxor. This is the second of three Christ Our Hope Gospel events across the Middle East, following the first gathering in Amman, Jordan, where 500 people made decisions for Christ. Upper Egypt, where Luxor sits, is just a few hours from where Dr. Youssef grew up. He knows the people, their culture, their struggles, and their spiritual needs firsthand. That understanding gives him unique credibility and authority as he proclaims the Good News of Christ. We’ve already seen the massive spiritual hunger in Egypt—and we believe the harvest is ready. In 2023, Leading The Way held a Gospel event in Cairo where nearly 8,000 people made decisions for Christ—almost half of those in attendance. As Dr. Youssef returns to Egypt, he returns with a deep love for the people and a burden for them to know the Truth of Christ. In the days leading up to Christ Our Hope in Luxor, Dr. Youssef will join local church leaders to equip and encourage pastors in Egypt, training them in evangelism and discipleship in preparation for the city-wide outreach.
